December 29: Prayer of committing to Marriage and Family

One of the most important things we can do for our family is to pray for it.  I do realize not everyone who reading this blog is married but we all have families to prayer for.  There’s no perfect family, even in Christian homes, we all need to grow in Christ.  Marriage can be beautiful and joy-filled, but every relationship comes with its own set of challenges.  Friends God has told us in His Word to come to Him at all times, in every situation, and with confidence as we pour our hearts to Him.  Let’s do that this morning praying for Marriages and Family.  If you not married please prayer for families in our church that our on the brink of separation.

Ask God:  Father God we ask that you heal our marriages, that you bring reconciliation and restore love.  The biggest battle is within ourselves, we are the only ones that has the power to change.  We ask that you open the eyes of each spouse that they may see the blind spots in their own character.  Help each partner do their part to be healthy: emotionally, Physically, and Spiritual, then let them rest in Your power of grace.  Help each marriage to “Wait on the LORD; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the LORD” (Palms. 27:14).  Lord we ask that you will work with the most destructive characteristics in a relationship: 1) criticism, (2) contempt, (3) defensiveness and (4) stonewalling, please help each spouse to put these to the grave. Father we know our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.”  We ask that our Marriages will put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, they may be able to stand their ground.  We pray for you divine power to demolish strongholds.  We demolish arguments and every pretension in the name of Jesus.  We take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

Father we pray for those who made the decision to separate or are about too.  We ask that you will draw close to each partner, take their grief, resentment, emotional pain and help them find healing in Your Name.  Father we ask that you renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.  May you help them lean on your grace and move to higher ground.

Here are some items to pray for in your marriage or as Mediator for those families in our church/community:

  • Rebuild Friendship and Trust

  • Meet Your Spouse’s Most Important Emotional Needs

  • Reconcile with your mate

  • Focus on Changing Yourself, Not Your Mate

  • Resist the Enemy

  • Adjust your expectations

  • Children will be saved from heartache of family conflict and separation

Thank God:  We thank you for healing and restorations of our marriages in our church and community.  We thank you for your example of Love and Grace.  We thank you that even when we fail You are there to pick us up and help us stand again.
